Factory Frame Protection Guide

Reference guide · TECTORA – BikeProtection

Which bikes come with factory frame protection — and what stays unprotected

Most premium bikes come from the factory with protection on only a small part of the frame — typically the underside of the downtube or the chainstay bridge. The rest of the frame is left unprotected. This overview shows, for each model, exactly what is protected from the factory and what is not.

The data comes from real installations of model-specific BikeProtection kits (STEK PPF material) on specific models and frame generations. We update this overview continuously.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need a protection film if my bike already comes with factory film?
Most manufacturers protect only a small part of the frame from the factory — typically the underside of the downtube or the chainstay bridge. The rest of the frame (top tube, sides, head tube, seat tube) stays unprotected and prone to chips from rocks, mud, straps and everyday use. A model-specific BikeProtection kit covers the entire frame.
How do I find out what my bike has protected from the factory?
Use the search box above the table to find your bike by brand or model, or filter by type. Each model shows exactly whether and where it has factory film, whether it has a rubber chainstay guard, and whether it has a plastic battery cover. The data comes from real installations on the specific models.
What if my bike already has factory film in some areas?
Our kit is designed to work around the existing factory film, or in some cases offers the option to cover or replace it. For each model we state how this is handled.
Does the PPF film also cover the plastic battery cover on an e-bike?
No. Plastic battery covers (e.g. Bosch PowerTube and similar) are usually not covered by PPF — they are removable plastic parts, not part of the carbon or aluminium frame. In the table we note which models have such a cover.
Are BikeProtection kits model-specific or universal?
BikeProtection kits are model-specific — cut precisely for the exact model and frame generation, not universal rolls. We make them from premium STEK PPF material (TPU), which ensures precise fit, a self-healing layer and maximum coverage.
